The .WEF file extension is primarily associated with proprietary engineering data files created by Elite Software Development, specifically for their HVAC design programs like Rhvac. Alternatively, the .WEF format is used for SecureDoc encrypted files by WinMagic, XML-based layout exports for WinLay by Kollmorgen, weapon definition data in Mobile Suit Gundam video games, and Windows Event Forwarding logs in Microsoft Windows.
The main disadvantage of .WEF files is their highly restrictive, proprietary nature. Elite Software engineering files require expensive commercial licenses to view or edit.
