About WEBBOOKMARK files

A .webbookmark file stores a single saved webpage URL created by Apple Safari. It contains the URL, webpage title, and synchronization metadata. It is handled primarily by Apple Safari on macOS and iOS devices and uses the internal Apple Property List (plist) format to structure its data. The biggest disadvantage of a .webbookmark file is its proprietary nature. Unlike standard HTML bookmark exports, a standalone .webbookmark file is not natively readable by Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Windows operating systems. It effectively traps your saved links within the Apple ecosystem and makes sharing single bookmarks difficult. The best conversion target is HTML, which allows you to import the link directly into any modern web browser. Alternatively, you can convert it to TXT or CSV to extract the raw URL and page title for documentation purposes. Note that Apple-specific syncing metadata used by iCloud will be lost during conversion, but the core web link remains fully intact. Because .webbookmark files are serialized Property List files, opening them in standard text editors often yields garbled binary code or complex XML structures that are hard to read. Many standard online converters fail to parse this Apple-specific format correctly. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format like XML plist, viewing the text or extracting the target URL may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your WEBBOOKMARK file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
