About WB2 files
The Problem: A .WB2 file is a legacy spreadsheet notebook created by Quattro Pro for Windows (specifically version 5.0), a component of the Corel WordPerfect Office suite. While once a major competitor to Excel, this format is now effectively obsolete. The frustrating part for users is proprietary lock-in: modern versions of Microsoft Excel have largely dropped native support for older Quattro Pro formats. Attempting to open them directly often results in "File format not valid" errors or requires installing difficult-to-find legacy import filters. Furthermore, purchasing the full WordPerfect suite just to view an archived spreadsheet is not cost-effective.
The Solution: For most users, the goal is data recovery or migration. If you need to edit the data, formulas, and charts, converting to XLSX (Modern Excel) or ODS (OpenDocument Spreadsheet) is the best path. For strictly viewing or archiving historical financial data without risking formatting shifts, convert the notebook to .PDF/A. In rare cases (less than 1%), a .WB2 file might be a Webshots image file; if the file fails to open as a spreadsheet, try converting it to JPG.

The WB2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WB2 converter.
