About VUE files
The .VUE extension refers to three distinct formats, creating significant confusion for users trying to open them. The most common type is the Vue.js Single-File Component, a specialized file used by web developers to encapsulate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in the Vue.js Framework. While powerful for development, these files are not executable by web browsers directly and cannot be viewed as a webpage without a complex "build process" (conversion) using tools like Vite or Webpack to generate standard JS and CSS files. Users often struggle to share these designs with non-developers who simply want to see the UI, necessitating conversion to PDF or static HTML.
Less common but problematic are SmartPlant Review files by Hexagon. These are proprietary 3D CAD files used in industrial plant design. They require expensive, specialized enterprise software to view, creating a "lock-in" effect that prevents easy sharing with clients or contractors. Converting these to 3D PDF, OBJ, or standard image formats like PNG is essential for broader accessibility.
Finally, the extension is used by Tufts VUE for visual concept maps. These XML-based files require the specific educational software to open. To include these diagrams in reports or presentations without forcing recipients to install the software, users typically convert them to PDF, JPG, or DOCX.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VUE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted HTML, PRV, FNC, CLR and JS files.
The VUE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VUE converter.
