About VTD files
The .VTD file is a proprietary data format primarily used as an enterprise software data container. It stores business report templates for the VTC Iris ERP system, table definitions for Asseco Solutions Helios ERP, or tax form definitions for TaxAct and CCH ProSystem fx Tax. Other distinct uses include vibration analysis data for GTI Predictive VibTrend and spellcheck dictionaries for Visual Thesaurus.
Because .VTD files are proprietary and system-specific, they are highly restricted. You cannot open them natively in standard operating systems like Windows or macOS. Attempting to view them without an expensive, active subscription to the original ERP or tax software usually results in an unreadable file error. Sharing these files with external clients or colleagues is impractical because the recipient will lack the required software to view the contents.
To make the data usable, you must convert the .VTD file into standard formats. For sharing tax forms or business reports, convert the file to PDF. If you need to analyze the raw data tables or ERP definitions, convert it to CSV or XLSX. For extracting plain text from spellcheck dictionaries, TXT is the most reliable target.

The VTD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VTD converter.
