About VRPACKAGE files

A .vrpackage file is a proprietary 3D Virtual Reality scene archive created by Simulation Lab Software. Developers use these files to bundle 3D models, baked lighting, textures, animation paths, and interactive logic into a single deployable container for VR experiences.

Users typically open these files using SimLab Composer or view them with the free SimLab VR Viewer.

The primary disadvantage of the .vrpackage format is its closed, proprietary nature. The file acts as a locked container, preventing users from directly importing their 3D assets into industry-standard editors like Blender or Unity. File sizes frequently exceed hundreds of megabytes. Because the internal compression and logical structure are strictly undocumented, standard online 3D converters fail completely when attempting to parse the geometry.

To regain access to your raw 3D data, the ideal conversion targets are open formats like GLB, GLTF, or FBX. Converting to these formats strips away the proprietary VR logic but preserves the meshes and textures.

Explain why this file format is difficult to open or convert. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. While direct geometry conversion of closed formats is complex, our engine can inspect the file and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - such as standard ZIP-compressed texture directories - viewing or asset extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VRPACKAGE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The VRPACKAGE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VRPACKAGE converter.
