About VMR files

The .VMR file extension primarily represents a Visio Report Definition file or a Visio Macro-Enabled Stencil used to generate tabular data reports from vector diagrams. Alternatively, it is widely used as a Model Matching Rule file for flight simulators connected to the VATSIM network. You manage the diagram variants with Microsoft Visio and process flight simulation rules using the vPilot client or AIG Traffic Manager. Users frequently need to convert these files because Visio requires a costly commercial subscription to open, and its proprietary format is completely unsupported by standard web browsers. Furthermore, Visio .VMR files can execute macro code, presenting a severe security risk if opened blindly. Flight simulator .VMR files are simply XML documents wrapped in a custom extension, which confuses users trying to edit them. For VATSIM files, the best conversion targets are XML or TXT so you can modify the data in any text editor. For Visio reports, exporting to CSV or PDF is ideal to share the data without requiring proprietary software. However, Visio's proprietary structure makes it exceptionally difficult to convert without the original software rendering engine. Standard online converters fail because they cannot process Microsoft's closed ecosystem formats. If our analysis detects standard XML text or an embedded structure within the .VMR container, viewing and extraction may still be possible directly in your browser.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VMR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MVR, MP4, VDC, TER and VSSX files.
