About VFT files
A .VFT file is primarily a VideoFont display font or logo used by Verifone Point of Sale (POS) terminals. In a secondary context, it serves as a VideoStudio Filter File for Corel VideoStudio. Terminal files are managed via proprietary Verifone EFPOS-2000 configuration utilities, while video filter files are applied directly within Corel VideoStudio to add visual effects. Users often need to convert .VFT files to extract retail store logos or custom receipt fonts. However, these files present major limitations. The POS font format is strictly designed for embedded, low-resolution thermal printers and LCDs. It is proprietary, entirely undocumented, and not supported by Windows, Mac, or modern web browsers. Corel filters are completely isolated to their specific video editor ecosystem and cannot be reused elsewhere. The best target formats for extraction include PNG or SVG for logos, and TTF for fonts. Be prepared to lose hardware-specific formatting metadata. This file format is difficult to open or convert. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. convert.guru can still identify the file format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

The VFT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VFT converter.
