About VET files

The .VET file extension is primarily used for Veterinary practice management documents generated by IDEXX Animana software. These files usually contain medical records, invoices, or prescription instructions. Under the hood, they are typically standard RTF (Rich Text Format) files. Alternatively, the .VET extension is used by Lectra Modaris, a specialized CAD software for fashion design, to store garment pattern pieces and cutter data. A smaller subset of .VET files serve as financial report statements for Bankserv. Users often need to convert .VET files because the extension is not natively recognized by standard operating systems or web browsers. Sending a .VET file to a client, patient, or external manufacturer usually results in an unsupported file format error. In the case of veterinary records, keeping the file in a proprietary ecosystem limits interoperability. For Lectra Modaris CAD files, the format is highly proprietary and requires a costly software license to view the pattern geometry. For veterinary text documents, the best conversion targets are PDF for secure sharing or DOCX for editing. For Lectra CAD files, converting to an open vector format like DXF is ideal, though complex layer metadata might be lost during export. Because the .VET extension is shared among multiple completely unrelated industries (veterinary medicine, fashion CAD, and banking), it is notoriously difficult for generic converters to handle. Standard online tools fail because they rely solely on the extension rather than file signature analysis. Just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to see what it is and convert it if supported. Our analyzer will inspect the file headers and if it detects the underlying RTF or text data, viewing and conversion may still be seamlessly possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your VET file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted VRF, VCLOG, ZPL and BTC files.

The VET Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VET converter.
