About V3O files

The .V3O file extension represents a specialized 3D model format primarily associated with the Vision Game Engine and the Emergency game series (specifically Emergency 3 and Emergency 4). These files store three-dimensional geometry, including vertices, polygon faces, texture coordinates (UV maps), and lighting data used to render in-game assets like vehicles, buildings, and characters.

For most users, the need to convert a .V3O file arises during game modding or asset extraction. Because the format is proprietary to specific game engines (developed by Sixteen Tons Entertainment and Trinigy/Havok), it cannot be opened by standard 3D software like Autodesk Maya or default Windows viewers. While some versions (like those in Emergency 4) are technically plain text and readable in Notepad++, they are practically useless without a visualizer. Users run into issues due to this lack of compatibility, requiring specialized tools to bridge the gap.

To edit or print these models, the best workflow is converting them to OBJ (Wavefront Object) for universal compatibility, FBX for game development in Unity or Unreal Engine, or STL for 3D printing. The most reliable conversion route involves using ZModeler (Zanoza Modeler) or community-developed plugins for Blender, which can parse the proprietary structure and export it to a standard format.

Convert.Guru analyzes your V3O file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RAR, OBJ, SCW, PLY and S3D files.

The V3O Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our V3O converter.
