The .V3M file format is a proprietary 3D clipart model specifically designed for CNC routing and engraving software developed by Vectric Ltd. These files primarily store intricate 2.5D relief models used by woodworkers, sign makers, and machinists. The primary tools used to open and edit these files are commercial software packages like Vectric Aspire, VCarve Desktop, and VCarve Pro.
From a practical standpoint, the .V3M format presents significant challenges. It is a strictly closed and proprietary format, which means you cannot open it using standard 3D viewers, web browsers, or typical 3D modeling tools. If you do not own a costly Vectric software license, the file is essentially useless. Users frequently need to convert these files to universal 3D formats like STL or OBJ to import them into standard modeling software like Blender or slicers for 3D printing.
