Convert a file to UT4MOD
To convert other file formats to the "Mod Installer Package" file type, you need software like Unreal Tournament 2004 or a similar tool.
About UT4MOD files
The .UT4MOD file is an installer package used by Unreal Tournament 2004 to distribute custom modifications, such as new weapons, maps, and characters. Modders pack multiple game assets into a single .UT4MOD file so players can install them with a double-click. You can open and install these files using the original Unreal Tournament 2004 game engine developed by Epic Games.
The main disadvantage of the .UT4MOD format is its strict reliance on the Windows Registry. If your game installation is moved to a different drive or the registry keys are missing, the installer will fail completely. Furthermore, standard archive tools like ZIP extractors cannot read it natively. Users often need to convert or extract these files to bypass the broken auto-installer and manually access the mod data.
The best conversion target for a .UT4MOD file is to extract its internal contents. This means unpacking the package back into raw game assets like UT2 (maps), UTX (textures), UKX (animations), and U (Unrealscript code). You will not lose quality, as this is a direct data extraction.
This file format is difficult to open or convert because it is a closed, proprietary archive specific to older versions of the Unreal Engine. Standard online converters fail to process it. However, you can use convert.guru. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Our system can inspect the file, read the internal structure, and if our analysis detects supported embedded data, viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your UT4MOD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert UT4MOD file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Unreal Tournament 2004 or similar software from the "Game Modification Installer Package" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to UT4MOD, try Unreal Tournament 2004 or another comparable tool in the "Game Modification Installer Package" category.
The UT4MOD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our UT4MOD converter.
