About TXW files

A .txw file represents one of two distinct, proprietary formats depending on its origin. Most commonly in professional settings, it is a Formatted Text Document created by TX Text Control, a rich text editing component embedded in enterprise software like Software of Excellence EXACT (dental practice management). These files contain letter templates, referrals, and patient correspondence with formatting that standard Microsoft Word cannot open directly.

Alternatively, in music production, a .txw file is a 12-bit Audio Sample used by the vintage Yamaha TX16W sampler (circa 1988). These legacy files contain wave data often requiring specialized emulators like Cyclone or conversion tools to be usable in modern DAWs.

A third, less functional variant is a temporary artifact left behind by crashed web-based audio converters. These are often incomplete data streams and cannot be reliably converted.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TXW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted STS, MLP and VDT files.

The TXW Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TXW converter.
