About TXW files
The .TXW file extension serves multiple, entirely unrelated purposes across different industries. It is most commonly found as a proprietary audio recording created by Texas Instruments Digital Voice Recorders, or as vintage audio samples for the 1980s Yamaha TX16W hardware synthesizer. Alternatively, in enterprise and clinical settings, .TXW acts as a locked word processing template used by TX Text Control, Brother P-touch Editor, or niche dental practice management software like Software of Excellence EXACT and Trophy Windows.
These formats share one major flaw: they are highly proprietary and practically unusable outside of their native environments. .TXW audio files lack native playback support in standard operating systems, media players, or web browsers. Similarly, .TXW document templates are locked to legacy or niche software ecosystems, often requiring expensive corporate or clinical software licenses just to open a single text file.
To restore usability to these files, .TXW audio recordings must be converted to standard formats like MP3 or WAV for universal playback. .TXW document templates should ideally be exported to DOCX or PDF. However, achieving this is difficult. Standard online converters generally fail to process .TXW files because they lack the reverse-engineered codecs required for the audio files, and the proprietary text-parsing algorithms needed for the dental templates.
Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible using convert.guru. Even if the original software is completely unavailable, our engine inspects the binary data inside the .TXW file. If our analysis detects a supported underlying audio format or embedded plain text within the proprietary wrapper, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TXW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TXW file to MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC, APE or WV, you can use TX Text Control or similar software from the "Proprietary Audio & Document Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to TXW, try TX Text Control or another comparable tool in the "Proprietary Audio & Document Storage" category.
The TXW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TXW converter.
