About TXB files
The .TXB file extension is a prime example of format collision, used by dozens of completely unrelated software applications. Most commonly, it acts as a proprietary container for game textures (used by developers like FromSoftware, Capcom's MT Framework, and BioWare) or as a Yosi's Text Box file. It is also used for Microsoft Transaction Server (DTC) log files, Deltix TimeBase databases, and even ALI Corp satellite receiver firmware graphics. Depending on its origin, you might use game-specific modding tools, TexturePacker, or a simple text editor to open it.
The primary disadvantage of the .TXB format is its total lack of standardization. Because it is highly proprietary and undocumented, users are often left guessing which software created the file. A .TXB from a Touhou Project game will not open in the same software as a .TXB generated by CADS RC software or a TurboTax license. These files are typically locked down, compressed, or packed in ways that make viewing their internal data incredibly frustrating without the original software or community-built reverse-engineering tools.
When users need to convert a .TXB file, the best target formats depend entirely on the contents. For game texture archives, converting the extracted files to standard PNG or DDS formats is ideal for editing. For transaction logs and text blocks, converting to TXT or CSV makes the data readable. However, converting these files is notoriously difficult. Because this is a closed, proprietary format with no universal structure, standard online converters simply fail to process it. Our system scans the file's internal signature to bypass the confusing extension. If our analysis detects supported underlying formats - like embedded PNG images or raw text - viewing or extraction may still be possible without the original software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TXB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TXB file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use TexturePacker or similar software from the "Game Textures & Proprietary Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to TXB, try TexturePacker or another comparable tool in the "Game Textures & Proprietary Data" category.
The TXB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TXB converter.
