About TUN files
Users typically encounter .TUN files in two completely different, frustrating contexts.
Game Audio (Legacy): Most commonly associated with LEGO Racers (1999) and older titles from Electronic Arts, these files act as proprietary containers for audio data (often encoded as ALP or VOX ADPCM). The problem is that standard media players like VLC or Windows Media Player treat them as unreadable binary garbage. You cannot simply "open" them to hear the soundtrack; they must be processed by specific extractors.
Synthesizer Microtuning: In music production, .TUN is a text-based frequency map originally developed for AnaMark. It allows sound designers to apply custom microtonal scales to VSTs like Serum, Omnisphere, and u-he Diva. The friction here is workflow incompatibility: many hardware synths and newer plugins strictly require SCL (Scala) files, leaving your .TUN scales locked to specific software instruments.
