About TTD files

The .ttd file extension is primarily associated with Sensitech TempTale data loggers, the industry standard for monitoring temperature-sensitive supply chains (cold chain). These files contain encrypted, tamper-proof logs of temperature, humidity, and time data recorded during shipments of pharmaceuticals or perishable food.

Because .ttd files are designed to ensure data integrity for regulatory compliance (such as 21 CFR Part 11), they are binary and cannot be opened with standard text editors like Notepad or spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel. They typically require the proprietary TempTale Manager software to view or print. A common limitation is receiving a .ttd file attachment from a logistics provider but lacking the specific licensed software to read it.

A secondary but distinct use of the format is for Tinytag data loggers by Gemini Data Loggers, which also store environmental monitoring data. Legacy TomTom GPS devices also utilized this extension for track logs.
