To convert other file formats to the "Vehicle Calculation Data" file type, you need software like TrailerWIN or a similar tool.

About TRW files

The .TRW file is a highly specialized vehicle data format created by TrailerWIN. Engineers and commercial truck body manufacturers rely on these files to store proprietary parameters for vehicle stability calculations, weight distributions, axle loads, and turning simulations.

To view, edit, or recalculate the actual simulation data, you must use the TrailerWIN software developed by Trailer Consultation.

The biggest disadvantage of the .TRW format is its strictly proprietary nature. The files are virtually useless to anyone who does not possess a specialized, licensed installation of TrailerWIN on a Windows PC. Clients, non-engineers, and manufacturing partners cannot open these files. Furthermore, mobile devices do not support them, and standard web browsers cannot preview them. This creates a massive bottleneck when trying to share truck concepts or compliance calculations across a supply chain.

To share the visual data, the file must be converted to widely accepted formats. We recommend exporting to PDF for standard document sharing, DXF for further CAD engineering, or JPG for simple image previews. Keep in mind that converting to these static formats permanently strips away the mathematical models - your recipient will see the truck design but cannot interactively recalculate the weight distribution.

Because .TRW is a closed database of physical and dimensional vehicle parameters, standard online converters completely fail to process it. Usually, only the original TrailerWIN application can correctly render and export the 3D data. However, you can still drag and drop your file into convert.guru to see what it is. We will identify the file format, inspect its internal contents, and show any readable text or embedded elements. If our analysis detects a supported underlying structure, a partial conversion or viewing may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TRW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TST, IMS and FDA files.

FAQ

If you want to convert TRW file to SHP, KML, KMZ, GPX, GEOJSON, TOPOJSON, TIF, TIFF, ECW, SID, IMG or DEM, you can use TrailerWIN or similar software from the "Truck Body Calculation" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert LAZ, KMZ, DTM, CSV, DEM, PRJ, LAS, GPX, DSM, SHP, DBF or KML files to TRW, try TrailerWIN or another comparable tool in the "Truck Body Calculation" category.

The TRW Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TRW converter.
