About TRASH files
A .trash file is a system file created when a user deletes data on an operating system like Google Android or ChromeOS. It is also occasionally used by email clients like Mozilla Thunderbird to store discarded messages. In most mobile cases, a .trash file is not a unique, complex format. It is simply a standard file - such as a JPG image, an MP4 video, or a PDF document - that the device has renamed and moved to a hidden recycle bin folder to await permanent deletion.
The main disadvantage of a .trash file is that standard applications cannot automatically read it. Because the file lacks its original extension, web browsers, image galleries, and document viewers will simply reject it or show an error. Standard online converters also fail to process .trash files because they rely blindly on the file extension rather than reading the internal binary data. This creates a frustrating situation when you need to recover a mistakenly deleted photo or video.
To restore your data, you need to identify and convert it back to its original format, such as JPG, PNG, or MP4. Our platform inspects the internal file signature rather than trusting the vague extension. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion is usually highly successful.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TRASH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TRASH file to SYS, DLL, EXE, DRV, VXD, 386, COM, BAT, CMD, SCR, PIF or LNK, you can use Google Android or similar software from the "Deleted System File Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MSI, EXE, REG, MST, LNK, CAB, CAT, DRV, INF, SYS, MSU or DLL files to TRASH, try Google Android or another comparable tool in the "Deleted System File Storage" category.
The TRASH Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TRASH converter.
