The .TOOLS file extension is primarily generated by Autodesk Fusion 360 to store CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) tool libraries. These files contain critical definitions for CNC machining, including cutter geometry, feeds, speeds, and coolant settings. While efficient for the software, the format acts as a proprietary container that locks data away from easy manipulation. Since the Fusion 360 .TOOLS file is actually a ZIP archive in disguise, the most immediate "conversion" target is ZIP, allowing access to the internal JSON data files. For data management and bulk editing, converting this internal JSON data to CSV or XLSX is the gold standard, enabling rapid adjustments in Microsoft Excel.
