About TNO files
The .tno extension creates significant confusion because it serves three distinct, incompatible purposes in specialized software environments.
Most frequently (51%), it acts as a Temporary Object file generated by Quadient Inspire Designer (formerly GMC PrintNet). These are volatile 'scratchpad' files created during high-volume document composition. The major friction point here is that users often find these in temporary folders or after a system crash, mistaking them for usable documents. They are proprietary binaries and cannot be opened by standard viewers like Notepad or Word. To make this data usable, you must open the original project in Inspire Designer and export the final output to standard formats like PDF, AFP, or PostScript.
Secondly, .tno files are Operating System updates for Texas Instruments TI-Nspire graphing calculators. These are system images, not documents. You cannot 'view' them on a PC; they exist solely to be transferred to the handheld device via the TI-Nspire Computer Link Software.
Finally, legacy users of the Micro-Cap circuit simulator use .tno files to store Transient Analysis Output. These contain raw simulation data. While the file itself is text-based or binary, it is best converted by opening it in Micro-Cap (now free software) and exporting the waveform data to CSV for Excel or PNG for reports.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TNO file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TNO file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Inspire Designer or similar software from the "Temporary Design Object" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to TNO, try Inspire Designer or another comparable tool in the "Temporary Design Object" category.
The TNO Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TNO converter.
