About TN2 files
Most .tn2 files function as cached thumbnail images generated by SpinetiX digital signage players and their accompanying Elementi software. These files are typically standard JFIF (JPEG) bitmaps renamed with a proprietary extension to serve as internal previews for digital signage projects. The primary disadvantage of the .tn2 extension is that standard operating systems and image viewers do not recognize it, leaving users unable to preview the content without manual intervention. Users often encounter these files when backing up SD cards from HMP players or browsing project cache directories. For general viewing, web use, or documentation, the best workflow is converting these files to JPG or PNG.
In rare legacy contexts (approx. 1%), a .tn2 file may be a 'Tiny' medium-resolution image created on Atari ST systems. These are uncompressed raster graphics specific to vintage hardware and require specialized retro-computing tools or conversion to modern formats like TIFF or PNG for archival purposes.

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TN2 converter.
