About TLL files
A .TLL file is a proprietary TV channel list clone used primarily by LG Electronics televisions. It functions as a settings backup, allowing users to export their customized tuning data, channel names, and sorting orders to a USB flash drive and import them onto another compatible LG TV. The internal structure is predominantly based on XML.
To manage these files on a computer, users rely on third-party, open-source software like ChanSort or the proprietary LG TV Service Tool.
The main disadvantage of the .TLL format is its strictly closed ecosystem. Because it is designed exclusively for LG TV firmware, it includes hardware-specific checksums. You cannot easily read it in a standard text editor without encountering confusing formatting, and modifying the raw text usually breaks the file, causing the TV to reject it upon import.
Converting .TLL to CSV or TXT is highly recommended if you simply want to document your channel lineup or analyze it in Microsoft Excel. Keep in mind that converting the data to a spreadsheet format is a one-way street - you will lose the firmware-specific headers required to load the channels back onto the television.
Because this is a closed hardware-level settings file, standard online converters fail to process it. However, you can just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to identify the format, view its underlying XML structure, and extract the raw text content when possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TLL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The TLL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TLL converter.
