About TFR files
The .TFR file extension is heavily fragmented and used by entirely unrelated software systems. Most commonly, it is an LED display region file used by ONBON LedshowTW to map screen regions on hardware signs. Alternatively, it serves as an Accounting data transfer file or Tax File Report in MYOB EXO Business and Acclaim Cashbook Complete, or as a machine learning TensorFlow records data file (TFRecord) created by Google TensorFlow. Less frequently, it acts as an XML label template in TEC-IT TFORMer Designer, or even a disguised PNG game texture in Star Trek: Bridge Commander.
Users usually need to convert .TFR files to extract the underlying data, text, or images. However, the extreme fragmentation of this extension creates significant disadvantages. Accounting and LED display .TFR files are closed, proprietary binary formats that cannot be opened by standard text editors or web browsers. They strictly require the exact original software version to read. Conversely, TensorFlow .TFR files are serialized binary records compressed with zlib, which require custom Python scripting to parse.
Standard online converters fail completely with .TFR files because they cannot guess which of the six different architectures they are dealing with. If the file is an accounting report, you likely want to export it to CSV or XLSX. If it is a TFORMer form, the target is usually standard XML. If it is a Star Trek texture, the target is PNG.
Because most .TFR files are strictly proprietary application data, extracting their contents is difficult. Often, only the original authoring software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects an underlying XML, PNG, or zlib compressed payload, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TFR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TFR file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use ONBON LedshowTW or similar software from the "Hardware Config & Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to TFR, try ONBON LedshowTW or another comparable tool in the "Hardware Config & Data Storage" category.
The TFR Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TFR converter.
