About TCS files
The .TCS extension is shared by two distinct, proprietary formats that often cause confusion. Most commonly in enterprise environments, it represents a Tacton Configuration State file generated by Tacton CPQ. These are XML-based datasets that save the specific choices a user made when configuring a complex product (like heavy machinery or vehicles). Because they are raw data files intended for the Tacton engine, they are not human-readable in their native format. Users often need to convert them to PDF or TXT to archive the configuration specs or share them with clients who lack the software.
Alternatively, a .TCS file may be a legacy Voice Message created by Telesis CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) systems. These files use a RIFF container structure but often contain proprietary audio codecs that fail to play in standard media players like Windows Media Player or VLC. For these files, the primary goal is converting the locked audio data into a standard MP3 or WAV format for playback on modern devices. Less frequently, .TCS may refer to a TreeComp snapshot file used for directory comparison backups.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TCS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert TCS file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use Tacton CPQ or similar software from the "Configuration State or Audio" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The TCS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TCS converter.
