Extract text from TurboCAD 2D Mac drawings (TC2)

The .TC2 file format is a proprietary vector graphics format created by IMSI/Design for TurboCAD Mac. These files store 2D architectural or mechanical drawings, including lines, arcs, layers, and coordinate measurements. Users rely on this format to save drafting projects exclusively on macOS environments.
To natively open a .TC2 file, you need TurboCAD Mac. Because this format is strictly tied to IMSI software, it presents major disadvantages for everyday use. The file is proprietary, unreadable by standard text editors, and completely unsupported by modern web browsers. Sending a .TC2 file directly to a client means they cannot view it unless they also purchase and install specific CAD software.
Converting .TC2 files is a common necessity for cross-platform sharing. The best target formats are DWG or DXF if the recipient needs to edit the CAD geometry in AutoCAD or other drafting tools. For simple viewing and printing, PDF is the optimal target. Be aware that when converting to DXF, complex custom entities specific to TurboCAD might drop down to basic line segments, and complex layer structures can sometimes lose their original grouping.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert outside of the official ecosystem. It is a closed, proprietary format, which means standard online converters frequently fail to parse the geometry data correctly. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the 2D data without severe quality loss.
