About TAI files

A .TAI file most commonly stores materials testing data generated by equipment from TA Instruments. These files utilize a Microsoft Compound File Binary Format structure to save thermal analysis or rheology measurements. Additionally, the .TAI extension is used for Taiwanese Electronic Invoices issued by the Taiwan Certificate Authority (TaiCA), as Texture Atlas Index files in the Relic Entertainment Essence Engine, and occasionally as unit AI scripts in classic games like Total Annihilation and Age of Empires II. The primary disadvantage of .TAI files is their highly specialized, proprietary nature. To open materials testing .TAI files, you normally need expensive software like TA Instruments Universal Analysis or TRIOS. Without this software, the raw measurement data is locked inside the binary wrapper and completely inaccessible. Game-related .TAI files and Taiwanese invoices suffer from similar isolation, requiring specific local tools that are not natively supported by standard operating systems or web browsers. To make this data accessible and useful outside its native ecosystem, conversion is required. For materials data, convert to CSV or XLSX to analyze the raw numbers in spreadsheet software, or to PDF for archiving and sharing uneditable charts. For texture atlas data, converting the mapped coordinates to standard XML or the associated images to PNG or DDS is standard for game modding. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser, bypassing the need for expensive software licenses.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TAI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted VTP, NXS, CMBL and UTC files.

The TAI Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TAI converter.
