About SYH files

A .SYH file is a software instrument preset used by Synchomatic, an older 32-bit software synthesizer originally developed by Neurotix. These files do not contain actual sampled audio data like a typical sound file. Instead, they store the synthesizer's proprietary patch parameters - including settings for its eight waveforms, single oscillator, low-frequency oscillator (LFO), envelope generator, and programmable filter. They are used exclusively to save and recall specific sound designs within the Synchomatic plugin environment. Users often encounter .SYH files when digging through archived music production sample packs or legacy project folders. A major point of frustration is that users attempt to play these files in modern media players or import them directly into modern Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) like Ableton Live or FL Studio. Because .SYH is a proprietary settings format and not a media file, it will completely fail to open. Furthermore, since Synchomatic is a legacy 32-bit Windows plugin, running it on modern 64-bit operating systems or macOS requires complex emulation or bridging software. Standard online audio converters cannot process .SYH files because there is no actual audio waveform to encode. To convert the sound to a standard format, you must theoretically open the patch inside the original Synchomatic plugin, trigger it with MIDI, and export or bounce the resulting audio to a .WAV or .MP3 file. Without the original software, the audio is trapped. We will identify the file format, inspect the binary data, and extract any readable text or internal content. While magically converting synth parameters to audio is impossible without the original audio engine, our tool can still peek inside the file to help you recover patch names, developer notes, or readable values without needing the original software.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SYH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The SYH Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SYH converter.
