About SV4 files

A .sv4 file is a binary saved game created by the original RollerCoaster Tycoon (1999). It contains the complete state of a theme park, including track layouts, financial data, guest statistics, and landscaping. The Problem: As a proprietary binary format from the late 90s, .sv4 files are incompatible with standard image viewers or text editors. Users often discover these files on old backups but cannot open them because they lack the original CD-ROM or cannot run the 16-bit software on modern Windows 10/11 systems. Furthermore, the sequel, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, uses a different format (SV6), making direct transfer confusing. The Solution: The most reliable way to convert or view these files is via OpenRCT2, an open-source reimplementation of the game engine. OpenRCT2 can import legacy .sv4 files and "convert" them by saving them as modern SV6 or .PARK files, or by exporting high-resolution screenshots (PNG) of the park layout.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SV4 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SV5, TD4 and TP4 files.
