About SSQ files

The .SSQ file extension typically represents a specialized Software License Activation File generated for Dassault Systèmes products like SolidWorks or CATIA. These files are strictly formatted for the DS License Server and contain encrypted authorization keys, expiration dates, and hardware identifiers. A major difficulty for IT administrators is that these files are binary or encrypted text, meaning they cannot be simply opened in Microsoft Word to view license details without specialized administration tools. They are proprietary and essentially "locked" to the vendor's ecosystem.

For a different subset of users, an .SSQ file is a legacy Squash! Game Data file used on the Amiga platform, specifically containing compressed audio or level data. These files are functionally obsolete and incompatible with modern media players like VLC.

The SSQ Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SSQ converter.
