About SRB files

The .srb file extension typically serves three distinct user groups, often leading to confusion.

  1. Sonic Robo Blast 2 (Game Data): Most commonly, this is a resource archive used by Sonic Robo Blast 2 (SRB2), a fan-made game based on the Doom Legacy engine. These files function like WAD files, containing level maps, textures, audio, and game logic. Users often try to convert these to view game assets (like sprites or music). Practical Constraint: You cannot simply "convert" this entire file to a PDF or video. Instead, you must use a tool like SLADE or XWE to extract specific components into usable formats like PNG images or WAV audio.
  2. Sievers Instrument Data (Hidden ZIP): In laboratory settings, Sievers Analytical Instruments (now part of Veolia) use this format for data reports. The Workaround: These are often just renamed ZIP archives. If you need to access the data, try renaming the file extension from .srb to .zip. You can then extract the internal contents, which are usually CSV spreadsheets or PDF reports.
  3. SBuilder Document (Text): For flight simulator enthusiasts, this may be a text-based project file created by SBuilder. Since it stores coordinate and scenery data in plain text, you can open it with Notepad++ to view the code or convert it to a standard TXT file for archiving.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SRB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ANA, SAC and WBL files.
