About SRB files
The .SRB file extension is shared by three distinct and completely incompatible software systems. Most commonly, it acts as a legacy text document used by the SBuilder text editor. It is also heavily used as a game data archive by Sonic Robo Blast 2, an open-source fan game developed by Sonic Team Junior. Finally, it serves as an instrument data report archive for Sievers Analytical Instruments (such as their Total Organic Carbon analyzers).
Each variant has severe disadvantages for the average user. SBuilder documents are largely obsolete and tied to legacy software. Sonic Robo Blast 2 files are proprietary game archives holding levels, sprites, and sounds. These are incredibly difficult to modify or export without specialized DOOM-engine modding tools like SLADE. Standard online converters fail instantly when attempting to process these proprietary files. The Sievers instrument reports are locked down to prevent tampering, requiring expensive proprietary software to view the lab data natively.
If your goal is conversion or data extraction, your options depend strictly on the file's origin. SBuilder files should be converted to TXT or PDF for long-term readability. Sievers instrument reports are actually standard ZIP archives in disguise. If you rename the extension to ZIP, you can extract the raw data (often CSV or XML) using standard extraction tools. Sonic Robo Blast 2 game files require dedicated WAD editors to extract the internal PNG or OGG assets.
Because this file format is heavily fragmented, generic converter websites will simply crash or throw an error. At convert.guru, just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view its raw contents, and convert it when possible. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format like a ZIP archive or plain text, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SRB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SRB file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Sonic Robo Blast 2 or similar software from the "Game Data & Report Archive" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The SRB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SRB converter.
