Convert SPFX to another file type
To convert your SPFX file to another format, you need Simio or other Data software.
Convert a file to SPFX
To convert other file formats to the "Simulation Project File" file type, you need software like Simio or a similar tool.
About SPFX files
A .SPFX file is primarily associated with Simio Project files created by Simio, a leading simulation modeling software used for risk analysis and scheduling. These files encapsulate the entire simulation environment, including 3D object definitions, process logic, and relational data tables.
Because the .SPFX format is a proprietary container for Simio's intelligent object-based modeling, opening these files typically requires a licensed installation of the Simio software. This is a major drawback for stakeholders who need to view simulation results without paying for an enterprise license. Users often encounter frustration when trying to extract data for external analysis in Microsoft Excel or share visual results as a PDF.
A critical, often overlooked technical detail is that modern .SPFX files are frequently structured as ZIP archives. This means that in a pinch, you can rename the extension from .SPFX to ZIP to access internal assets, such as embedded textures (PNG, JPG) or model data stored in XML format. For standard workflows, the ideal conversion path involves exporting simulation results directly to CSV or XLSX for data analysis, or capturing the 3D animation as an AVI or MP4 video file for presentations. Less commonly, a .SPFX file may be a legacy 'Squeeze Preset' used by the discontinued Sorenson Squeeze for video encoding settings.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SPFX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SPFX file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use Simio or similar software from the "Simulation Modeling Project" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to SPFX, try Simio or another comparable tool in the "Simulation Modeling Project" category.
The SPFX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SPFX converter.
