Extract text from Simio projects (SPFX)

To convert other file formats to the "Simulation Project File" file type, you need software like Simio or a similar tool.
The .SPFX file is a simulation modeling project file created by Simio. It contains 3D simulation data, process models, business logic, and project configurations used in advanced industrial system simulation. Under the hood, the primary version of this file is actually a .ZIP archive containing .XML files and other internal assets.
The main disadvantage of the .SPFX format is its proprietary nature. It requires commercial, highly specialized software to open, view, or edit. It cannot be opened natively by web browsers or standard data analysis tools. Users without a costly Simio license are completely locked out of the simulation data and model logic, causing major bottlenecks during cross-team collaboration.
Converting a complete .SPFX simulation model directly into another simulation platform format is generally impossible due to differing proprietary logic engines. However, because it relies on a .ZIP container, users can extract the internal .XML files to salvage raw data, scripts, or configuration parameters. For data sharing, exporting to .CSV or .PDF from within the software is recommended.
This file format is difficult to open or convert without the original application. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data.
