About SNL files

The .SNL file extension is primarily generated by Snex, a specialized software tool used for statistical analysis and modeling. These files function as Statistical Analysis Log files, recording the sequential output, variable states, and calculation results from a data processing session.

While valuable for auditing research data, .SNL files present significant friction for users: they are often formatted as proprietary text streams that do not parse cleanly in standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel without manual delimiter adjustment. Furthermore, legacy versions of Snex may encode these logs in ways that generic text editors display as garbled data. Users frequently need to convert these logs to XLSX or CSV to regain control over their datasets for graphing, or to PDF to archive the statistical results in a non-editable, professional format.

*Note: A less common but existing use of the .snl extension is for EGrid32 Form Snippets used in older development environments, which are strictly layout definitions rather than data logs.*

Convert.Guru analyzes your SNL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted JOURNAL, SMCL and ELOG files.

The SNL Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SNL converter.
