About ELOG files
The .ELOG file extension is a fragmented log format used by various hardware and software systems to store events and diagnostic data. The most common use case is power data logging by the DENT Instruments ELITEpro hardware, which records energy consumption metrics. It is also used for fiber laser event logs by IPG Photonics, encrypted diagnostic records on DIRECTV satellite receivers, and simulation logs in the OMNeT++ discrete event simulator. The major disadvantage of an .ELOG file is its lack of standardization. Depending on the source, it might be plain text, XML, or a heavily encrypted binary blob. This proprietary nature means you often need the exact original software, such as the DENT ELOG application or the OMNeT++ IDE Sequence Chart tool, to read the data. These files can be large, and requiring a specific software installation just to view system metrics is highly inefficient. Users frequently need to convert .ELOG files into accessible, universal formats like CSV for spreadsheet analysis, or TXT and XML for text parsing. However, standard online converters often fail because many .ELOG files are encrypted or use undocumented binary structures, meaning only the original hardware can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying text or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ELOG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The ELOG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ELOG converter.
