Convert a file to SKCARD
To convert other file formats to the "Legacy PIM Database" file type, you need software like Starfish Sidekick or a similar tool.
About SKCARD files
The .skcard file is a legacy contact management card file created by Starfish Sidekick, a highly popular Personal Information Manager (PIM) from the 1990s. Originally developed by Borland, Sidekick used the .skcard format to store names, phone numbers, addresses, and personal notes in a proprietary database.
Today, the .skcard format is entirely obsolete. The primary disadvantage of this format is its closed, proprietary architecture and total lack of modern software support. Sidekick 95 and Sidekick 98 were designed for 16-bit or early 32-bit systems and will not run natively on modern 64-bit operating systems. This traps your valuable contact data inside a dead format. Users desperately need to convert these files to standard formats like CSV (Comma Separated Values) or VCF (vCard) to import them into modern tools like Google Contacts, Microsoft Outlook, or Apple Contacts.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because standard converters do not understand the underlying closed database structure. Often, only the original Sidekick software running in a legacy virtual machine can properly read or export the structured data. Standard online converters fail to process it. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible on convert.guru. We can inspect the file, show raw text or internal content, and if our analysis detects extractable text strings, you can manually copy your trapped contact data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SKCARD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SKCARD file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use Starfish Sidekick or similar software from the "Contact management storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert PDF, DOC, ASC, TODO, NFO, MEMO, README, DOCX, JPG, TXT, NOTE or RTF files to SKCARD, try Starfish Sidekick or another comparable tool in the "Contact management storage" category.
The SKCARD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SKCARD converter.
