About SKCARD files
The .SKCARD file is a legacy contact database format created by Starfish Sidekick, a Personal Information Manager (PIM) popular in the mid-to-late 1990s. These files serve as the digital address book for the application, storing names, phone numbers, addresses, and notes in a proprietary binary structure. The primary issue with .SKCARD files today is the "abandonware" status of the parent software; Starfish Sidekick (originally developed by Borland and later Starfish Software) has been discontinued for decades and its installers are often incompatible with modern 64-bit operating systems like Windows 10 or 11.
Because the format is a closed database, users cannot simply open it with a text editor like Notepad to retrieve data without seeing garbled binary code. To recover this contact information for use in modern applications like Microsoft Outlook or Google Contacts, the file must be converted. We recommend converting .SKCARD files to CSV (Comma Separated Values) for broad compatibility with spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel, or to vCard (.VCF) for direct import into smartphones and email clients.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SKCARD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SKCARD file to TXT, RTF, DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, TEX, LATEX, MD, MARKDOWN, LOG or NFO, you can use Starfish Sidekick or similar software from the "Contact Management Database" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The SKCARD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SKCARD converter.
