Extract text from Mapping or drawing files (SDL)

To convert other file formats to the "Data Mapping File" file type, you need software like Salesforce Data Loader or a similar tool.
An .SDL file primarily functions as a Salesforce Data Loader Mapping file or a SmartDraw Symbol Library. In the Salesforce ecosystem, it stores the exact field mapping between a local CSV file and cloud database objects. In SmartDraw, it contains proprietary vector shapes and symbols for creating technical diagrams. Less commonly, it acts as a game audio stream file for older PlayStation titles, satellite receiver firmware for ALI Corp chipsets, or S&P Daily Index Level data.
These formats are heavily fragmented and highly proprietary. A Salesforce .SDL mapping file is essentially a text-based properties file, meaning it lacks actual record data and is entirely useless without the accompanying CSV file. SmartDraw .SDL files are closed vector libraries locked into a paid subscription model. You cannot open a SmartDraw .SDL directly in standard vector editors like Adobe Illustrator.
If the .SDL is a text-based mapping file, you can convert or view it as TXT to inspect the key-value pairs. SmartDraw libraries must be exported from within SmartDraw to SVG or PNG if you want to use the shapes elsewhere. Standard online converters fail to process .SDL files because the extension is shared by at least a dozen completely different software platforms, ranging from Windows 16-bit executables to XML configuration files.
This file format is difficult to open or convert. Emphasize that often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
