About SDC files

The .SDC extension is a multi-purpose format most frequently associated with legacy StarOffice 5.0 spreadsheets, the predecessor to Apache OpenOffice. These binary files store financial data, formulas, and tables but are now obsolete; modern suites like Microsoft Excel cannot open them natively, leaving users unable to access historic data without specific conversion tools. The format is also widely used in electrical engineering as Synopsys Design Constraints, a text-based format using Tcl syntax to define timing and power constraints for integrated circuit design.
