About SANDBOX files

A .sandbox file is most commonly a game save file generated by the popular park-building simulators Jurassic World Evolution and Jurassic World Evolution 2. It stores the precise layout, terrain edits, and dinosaur genetic data for a player's Sandbox Mode park. In developer environments, it can also occasionally act as a configuration file for isolated software testing. These game save files are created and opened exclusively using Jurassic World Evolution.

Players frequently try to convert or export these files to share their custom parks, but the format has severe disadvantages. It is a proprietary, closed binary format designed exclusively for the game's internal Cobra engine. You cannot natively preview it in a web browser or standard file viewer. It is also highly restrictive: sharing a file with a user who lacks the correct DLC expansions will usually cause the game to crash or reject the save.

There are no direct conversion paths to standard formats. You cannot convert a .sandbox file into a 3D model like OBJ or a raster image like JPG. The file only contains spatial coordinates and asset references, not the actual 3D meshes or textures. To visually share the file, you must open it in the game and capture screenshots.

This file format is difficult to process because only the original software can properly read or export the structured game data. Standard online converters fail because they cannot parse the proprietary binary structure. We can inspect the file's raw hex code and show embedded plaintext content, such as custom park names or internal file timestamps. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or partial extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your SANDBOX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TXT, HTML and SIF files.
