About RMH files

The .RMH file extension stands for Rights-Managed HTML Document. It is a proprietary file format developed by Microsoft to apply Digital Rights Management (DRM) to standard web pages. These files are typically used in corporate environments to secure sensitive information, preventing unauthorized users from copying, pasting, printing, or forwarding the HTML content.

Historically, .RMH files were opened using the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer. Today, accessing them often requires the Microsoft Purview Information Protection client or an authenticated Microsoft ecosystem tool.

The primary disadvantage of the .RMH format is its severe restrictiveness. Because it is proprietary and heavily encrypted, you cannot simply open it in modern web browsers like Chrome or Safari. Users often need to convert these files to standard HTML, PDF, or TXT to share information with external clients or users on non-Windows platforms. However, standard online converters fail because the file is locked by DRM and tied to specific user credentials.

Because .RMH is a closed, proprietary format, it is exceptionally difficult to open or convert without proper authentication. Often, only the original software or authorized recipient can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format that is not fully encrypted, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RMH file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted GLB, PNG and BMP files.
