About RGT files

The .RGT file is a proprietary Registration Bank format used exclusively by Yamaha Arranger Workstations (such as the Genos, Tyros, and PSR series). These files act as a complete snapshot of the keyboard's panel settings - saving the active Voice (instrument), Style (rhythm), Tempo, Multipads, and effects configuration into a single button press.

Why users convert .RGT files:

For most users, the goal is not to convert to a media format (like MP3), but to migrate the data to a newer keyboard model or extract the text data for archiving. While Yamaha provides some utilities like the Yamaha Expansion Manager, specialized community tools are often required to deep-edit or convert these binary files.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RGT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted STY, ZIP, PNG, LIV, VQE and MGV files.

The RGT Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RGT converter.
