For most general users (approx. 39%), an .RGS file is a RealArcade Game Registration or RAGS Game Engine file. These are proprietary packages used to launch or authenticate older casual games. The friction here is significant: RealArcade files are often locked obsolete DRM keys that cannot be opened on modern Windows 11 systems, while RAGS (Rapid Adventure Game System) files are self-contained text adventure games that require the defunct RAGS Player to run.
