About RFM files
The .RFM file extension is primarily associated with rFactor, a highly realistic racing simulator developed by Image Space Incorporated. These files act as the definition core for game modifications (mods), effectively telling the engine which vehicles, tracks, physics rules, and scoring systems belong to a specific racing series or season.
While indispensable for the game, .RFM files present significant friction for users outside the simulation environment. Because they use a proprietary structure - often disguised as plain text but occasionally obfuscated - operating systems simply do not know how to handle them. You cannot double-click to view the mod parameters, and standard text editors may struggle if the file encoding is non-standard. Furthermore, modifying these files incorrectly can crash the GMotor engine instantly, leading to a corrupt game installation. Users typically need to convert or view these files as TXT or INI to inspect mod details, debug loading errors, or tweak gameplay variables without launching the simulator. For archiving or sharing mod specifications, converting to PDF is also a common workflow to freeze the configuration data in a readable format.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RFM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The RFM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RFM converter.
