About RBW files

The .rbw extension represents a collision between two very different worlds: Seagate NAS updates and Ruby development.

1. The Plex/Seagate Update (Most Common Confusion)

If you downloaded a Plex Media Server update for your Seagate Personal Cloud and received a .rbw file, do not try to open or convert it on your Windows PC. It will fail. This file is an installation package designed exclusively for the Seagate operating system (NAS OS).

2. Ruby Script (Developer Use)

Technically, a .rbw file is a standard Ruby script designed to execute without a command-line console window (rubyw.exe). This is used for Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications where a popping black command prompt would look unprofessional.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RBW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RBFRM, RBP and RBO files.

The RBW Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RBW converter.
