The .rb4 file is a proprietary data document generated by Resume Builder 4, a legacy career application developed by Sarm Software. It is primarily used to store structured resume data, including a user's professional history, contact information, skills, and specific layout settings. A minor percentage of .rb4 files are alternatively used as RobotWorks Parameters Files by Compucraft, storing robotic path generation settings.
Historically, users managed these files using the original Resume Builder 4 software. Because it is a highly proprietary and outdated format, it presents significant challenges for modern users. The .rb4 format is completely closed; it is not supported by standard word processors like Microsoft Word or modern web browsers. Users attempting to access their old career data are often locked out because the original application requires obsolete operating systems or is no longer available to download.
