About R2W files

The .R2W file extension is primarily associated with Reflection Workspace session files or macro files used by terminal emulation software developed by Rocket Software (formerly Attachmate). These files store host connection settings, keyboard mappings, and layout configurations. Alternatively, .R2W files function as proprietary pipe stress analysis project files generated by ROHR2 or CADISON software for industrial engineering. To open or natively interact with terminal emulation configurations, you need the Reflection Workspace suite. For the piping analysis models, ROHR2 or CADISON are required. Users often need to convert these files to extract textual settings, server IP addresses, or 3D engineering coordinates. However, both formats are heavily proprietary. The terminal session files often rely on the Microsoft Compound binary structure, making them difficult to read without a hex editor. The piping files contain complex, software-specific calculation grids. They are closed ecosystems. Standard online document converters fail to process them because they do not understand the underlying proprietary logic. Converting an .R2W file directly to standard formats like .PDF or .XML usually requires the native export functions of the original software. If you lack the expensive commercial licenses, extracting the raw data becomes challenging. Because .R2W files are closed and proprietary, they are difficult to open or convert externally. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Our platform can identify the file format, inspect the file's binary signature, and often extract text or internal content from the Microsoft Compound structure. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your R2W file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted FFP, PSL and OVD files.

The R2W Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our R2W converter.
