About QTP files
The .QTP file format is a proprietary settings container used by Apple QuickTime to save user configuration data and player preferences. These files store parameters like audio settings, playback behavior, and window placement. Because .QTP is a closed, proprietary format, it is extremely rigid. The files are not easily read by standard text editors, and they rely entirely on the legacy QuickTime architecture. This creates significant disadvantages. Apple officially deprecated QuickTime for Windows in 2016 due to unpatched security flaws, meaning Windows users cannot safely install the native software required to parse these files. Consequently, the data inside becomes locked in an obsolete ecosystem. Standard online converters fail to process .QTP files because they lack universal conversion targets. Converting a binary preferences file to a standard document format like PDF or DOCX is generally impossible because the internal structures do not map to printable layouts. This file format is difficult to open or convert because only the original software can properly read or export the raw binary data. Just drag and drop your file into convert.guru to see what it is and convert it if supported. Even for obscure formats, convert.guru can identify the file, inspect the internal hex structure, and extract raw text strings. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or extraction of configuration values may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your QTP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert QTP file to INI, CFG, CONF, CONFIG, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, ENV, PROPERTIES or RC, you can use Apple QuickTime or similar software from the "Media Player Preferences Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert ZSHRC, CONF, RCFILE, GITCONFIG, RC, PLIST, BASHRC, CONFIG, PROFILE, INI, PREFS or CFG files to QTP, try Apple QuickTime or another comparable tool in the "Media Player Preferences Storage" category.
The QTP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QTP converter.
