A .QTL file is an Apple QuickTime Media Link file, essentially a shortcut designed to launch the QuickTime Player and stream multimedia content from a specific URL. Unlike actual video files (like MOV or MP4) which store audio and visual data, a QTL file is a tiny text-based XML file containing only the web address of the media and playback parameters (such as autoplay or loop settings).

Because the file is only a few kilobytes, it cannot be uploaded to platforms like YouTube or edited in software like Adobe Premiere Pro.
