About Q2D files
A .Q2D file is a proprietary project file used by Quick 3D Cover (developed by Nervepreserve). It stores design templates, graphics, user text, and color settings used to map flat 2D artwork onto 3D objects like software boxes, e-books, and CD/DVD jewel cases. Quick 3D Cover is the only software that natively supports this format, creating a significant vendor lock-in. The main disadvantage is that .Q2D is a strictly closed layout file, not a final image. It cannot be opened by standard image viewers, web browsers, or modern design tools like Photoshop. To share the 3D cover online or in print, the project must be rendered out. The best target formats are standard raster images like PNG (which preserves background transparency) or JPG (for general web usage). This file format is exceptionally difficult to convert because standard online converters fail to process .Q2D files. They simply lack the proprietary 3D rendering engine and the native Q3C template library required to draw the final 3D box. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your Q2D file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert Q2D file to DWG, DXF, DGN, RVT, RFA, SKP, 3DM, STEP, IGES, SAT, X_T or X_B, you can use Quick 3D Cover or similar software from the "3D Cover Project Settings" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SLDASM, DGN, PRT, IAM, X_B, CATPRODUCT, SLDPRT, RVT, ASM, DWG, CATPART or DXF files to Q2D, try Quick 3D Cover or another comparable tool in the "3D Cover Project Settings" category.
The Q2D Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our Q2D converter.
