About PXV files

The .pxv file extension primarily represents a proprietary medical image file used by Planmed Nuance imaging software. These files store XTDM X-ray tomography analysis data and are closely related to the clinical DCM (DICOM) medical imaging standard. A secondary variation of the .pxv extension is used as a .NET XML document viewer package for applications utilizing XMLViewerLib or Procomer software.

The main disadvantage of the medical .pxv format is that it is strictly proprietary and built exclusively for clinical environments. It is completely unsupported by standard image viewers, web browsers, and common operating systems. You cannot preview these files natively. Opening them requires expensive, specialized diagnostic software, creating severe friction when patients or third-party clinics need to view the scans.

Users typically need to convert .pxv files to universal medical formats like DCM to share with other hospitals, or to standard consumer formats like JPG or PNG for quick visual reference. Converting to a consumer format strips the file of its critical medical metadata and high dynamic range, meaning the resulting image is no longer suitable for diagnostic purposes.

This file format is difficult to open or convert because its encoding algorithms are closed-source. Standard online converters fail because they lack the proprietary drivers to parse Planmed X-ray sensor data. Just drag and drop your file onto convert.guru to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Even if the proprietary wrapper blocks a full conversion, our system can inspect the .pxv file, extract readable text like embedded XML, and determine if the underlying standard DCM data can be rescued.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PXV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted 110-NA 2B QUICKIE PXV, PDF, FILM, DDA and XVF files.
