About PTE files

The .pte file extension primarily represents either a Pile Integrity Test data file used in civil engineering or a Slideshow project file created by PTE AV Studio (formerly PicturesToExe). Less commonly, it functions as a CNC machine project archive for Siemens SINUMERIK systems.

Engineers use software like the Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) from Pile Dynamics, Inc. to read raw sensor data, while content creators use PTE AV Studio to sequence photos and audio into presentations.

These files have severe disadvantages for sharing. The format is highly proprietary and closed. A slideshow .pte file does not actually contain your photos, videos, or music. It only stores UTF-8 text instructions pointing to file paths on your local computer. If you send a .pte file to someone without the source media, it will be completely useless. Similarly, pile testing data requires niche software to interpret and cannot be opened natively by web browsers or standard operating systems.

To share these files effectively, you must export them from their original applications. Convert slideshows to standard MP4 or AVI files. Convert engineering data into CSV spreadsheets or PDF reports.

This file format is extremely difficult to open or convert online. Standard online converters fail because they expect self-contained media or standard document structures. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Because the PTE AV Studio variant uses plain text, our analysis can inspect the file and show the internal content, helping you identify missing media paths or recover project structures.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PTE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted GPX, WBF, OSD and CLB files.
