The .PSY extension primarily identifies Psychological Experiment Scripts created for PsyToolkit or PsyScope, software widely used in cognitive research to define stimulus-response sequences. These files contain plain text commands governing experiment logic, timing, and data collection. While efficient for researchers, .PSY scripts are essentially useless to anyone without the specific interpreter installed; they cannot be executed by standard media players or opened meaningfully in Microsoft Word.
